Harshvendra Soin, Chief People Officer, Tech Mahindra
India IT solutions provider Tech Mahindra has promoted Harshvendra Soin to the role of Chief People Officer. Soin will succeed the current Chief People Officer, Rakesh Soni, who will take on an advisory role.
Soin joined Tech Mahindra in 2012, and possesses over 24 years of experience in the industry. Before his current role, he was heading the Canada Enterprise Business as Senior Vice President and Country Head at Tech Mahindra, Canada. He was also the Global Leadership Acquisition & Development, and Head – Business HR for APAC & EMEA (Telecom & Enterprise) for Tech Mahindra.
Prior to joining Tech Mahindra, Soin was the Chief People Officer at Fortis Healthcare Limited. There, he led the change towards formalising company processes and helped to drive rapid scale-up by way of growing its talent pipeline.
He is the recipient of many industry awards, including the HR Leadership Award from the Asia Pacific HRM Congress, Ascent – Most Powerful HR Professionals of India Award – World HRD Congress, and Talent Magnet Award for Conscious Business Leader Award 2016 by LinkedIn.
HR veteran Philippa Penfold is now the Vice President of People and Strategy at blockchain-based HR software company Peoplewave. This position is an extension of Penfold’s role as Adviser to Peoplewave in her capacity as a senior HR professional for the past two years.
Penfold will be supporting Peoplewave’s rapid growth, building the HR team, and providing thought leadership.
Known as “Pip” throughout the HR community, Penfold has 20 years’ experience in HR and is unique amongst regular HR circles in her understanding and application of technology to the HR function.
Her experience implementing technology-based solutions to solve business challenges extends over most of her career – the first HR Tech start-up she advised was in 2001 in Sydney, Australia. Penfold is also very active in the start-up community, supporting founders and providing advice and support as a mentor and adviser.
Penfold holds an Executive MBA from the Kellogg-HKUST programme and a Master of Science in HR Management. Penfold also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Strategy and Innovation from Oxford University’s Säid Business School and a Postgraduate Certificate in Change Management from the Australian Graduate School of Management.
Sunway Hotels & Resorts, the hospitality division of Malaysian conglomerate Sunway Group, has appointed Bhuvanes Krishnasamy as Group Director of HR.
In this role, Bhuvanes will be responsible for the hospitality group’s strategic framework within HR with a particular focus on talent management, driving optimal performance through people strategy and leadership development, and to further align Sunway’s corporate culture across all 11 of Sunway’s properties in Malaysia, Cambodia and Vietnam.
A Malaysian national, Bhuvanes has more than 15 years of HR leadership experience. She is not new to the Sunway network, with the most recent role as the Head of HR with Sunway Integrated Properties, leading the full spectrum of HR for the business unit.
Prior to joining Sunway Integrated Properties, she served as the People & Organisation Partner, responsible for Southeast Asia and Australia at biotechnology company Novozymes.
In her new capacity, Bhuvanes will be responsible for the HR strategy and programme execution, to ensure achievement of the company’s growth strategy and transformative human capital initiatives for Sunway’s 2,000-odd employees.
