People moves at Philips, Cathay Pacific, and more

Here are some of the week's latest HR promotions and job moves from Asia Pacific.

Ivy Lai, CEO, Philips Singapore

In her new role, Lai will oversee Philips Singapore’s transition strategy from a consumer electronics company to being a leader in health technology.

In addition to being CEO for Philips Singapore, Ivy continues to double-hat in her current role as Chief Financial Officer for Philips ASEAN Pacific, based in Singapore.

Prior to this, Ivy held a number of senior positions in Greater China, including her last role as Chief Financial Officer for Philips Greater China, based in Shanghai, before returning to Singapore to take on the role of CFO for the ASEAN Pacific region.

Caroline Clarke, CEO, Philips ASEAN Pacific, commented: “Singapore is a critical hub and regional headquarters for us in the ASEAN Pacific region, and Ivy takes this role at a pivotal time when we are successfully transitioning to a market leader in health technology.”

Sashikala Devi GopallanSashikala Devi Gopallan, Director, SME Development, HR Development Fund Malaysia

Sashikala Devi Gopallan has been appointed the director of SME Development at Malaysian government agency HR Development Fund (HRDF).

In this role, she will support the successful implementation of Malaysia's SME Masterplan 2012-2020 towards accelerating the growth of the country's small and medium enterprises; enabling Malaysia to achieve a high-income nation status by the year 2020 through a projected 41% GDP; 65% employment rate; and 25% export. 

HRDF, through the SME Development Department, has been mandated by the Malaysian government to assist in realising the SME Masterplan by advancing one of the six development factors that influence the exponential growth of SMEs in the country, including human capital upskilling and re-skilling initiatives.

She says she’s a “people person at heart”, and has “always held to the belief that a manager is only successful if his/her team is successful”.

Emily ChanEmily Chan, People Manager, Business Partner Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific Airways

Emily Chan has been appointed the People Manager of Business Partner at Hong Kong airline Cathay Pacific Airways.

She was previously People Manager of general operations at the airline. She first joined the company in 2005 as its Customer Relations Executive.

Chan is an experienced People Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the aviation industry.

She is skilled in HR, management and customer service.
