Philippa Penfold is the HR & Talent Director APAC for GroupM, part of the WPP Group. GroupM is the world’s largest advertising media company and serves as the parent company to WPP media agencies including Maxus, MEC, MediaCom, Mindshare, Xaxis and Vocanic.
During Philippa’s 17 years in HR she has worked in senior roles across various industries including Media, Finance, Mining, IT and Professional Services, primarily in MNC’s. Philippa has wide-ranging experience formulating HR strategies that align workforce evolution to business growth and profitability. She has led HR projects with geographically dispersed multicultural teams and participated in complex projects including M&A deal teams. In her current position she is analysing and redesigning HR programs and supporting the implementation of new HR practices. In recent roles Philippa led the change management aspects of major transformation projects including restructures.
Philippa has a particular interest in the talent management needs of the future workplace and how the renewal of organisations through innovation impacts, and is impacted by, employees. She is curious about how social capital and networks contribute to innovation and renewal and how organisations can leverage them for business sustainability and future performance.
Philippa was invited to join the Beta Gamma Sigma honour society following her academic success completing a Masters of Science in Human Resource Management (USA). She also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Change Management (Australia) and is currently undertaking a Postgraduate Diploma in Strategy and Innovation at Oxford University’s Säid Business School. Philippa is a certified Global Human Resources Professional (GPHR) through the Human Capital Institute and Prosci Change Management Practitioner. She holds professional credentials with the Australian HR Institute (CAHRI), UK CIPD (MCIPD) and Society for HR Management in the US (SHRM-SCP).
