HR role updates from Nokia, Applied Materials, and more

Here are some of the week's latest HR promotions and job moves from Asia Pacific.

Jackie ChanJackie Chan, Country HR Head, Malaysia, Nokia

Jackie Chan was appointed to the role of HR Head for Nokia’s operations in Malaysia in July 2017.

In this role, he will oversee all of the communication service provider’s talent needs in the country.

Currently, Chan also doubles up as the Managing Director of staffing firm O2 Consulting.

Prior to that, he was the vice president of talent acquisition for Standard Chartered Global Business Services from March 2014 to October 2015.

He is a senior HR and recruiting professional with 16 years of broad experience in both strategic HR and operations across education, consulting, telecommunications, IT, financial services, ITO and BPO industry.

Ajit IyerAjit Iyer, Managing Director – HR, Worldwide operations, Applied Materials

Ajit Iyer has taken over the position of Managing Director of HR for engineering solutions corporation Applied Materials’ worldwide operations since May 2017.

He joined from Sinarmas Agribusiness and Food, where he was its Chief Talent Officer responsible for the Singapore-listed food manufacturer’s manpower requirements across Asia.

Prior to that, Iyer was pharmaceutical company AbbVie’s Global Talent Management Director, where he was an integral part of evangelising and implementing the talent philosophy, and the supporting Talent Management processes across the company.

In that capacity, he worked with a team of regional and function talent directors across the world.

Iyer has over 20 years’ HR experience.

Ian SisperezIan Sisperez, Manager, Operational Excellence and Global HR Services, Philip Morris International

Ian Sisperez has been promoted to the global role of Manager for Operational Excellence and Global HR Services and tobacco company Philip Morris International.

In this role, he will lead and drive HR services and employee experience-centric strategy, organisational culture transformation through strategic deployment of programmes, and initiatives around new ways of working, among other things.

Sisperez is an experienced HR operations and programme manager who has supported the HR strategy of multinationals like IBM with over 24000 employees in Asia in his career thus far.
