Online food aggregator Zomato is planning to hire over 5,000 delivery partners as part of its expansion into 30 Indian cities, the company announced in a statement.

As of now, Zomato is already present in 93 cities across India and lists more than 75,000 restaurants on its platform.

The expansion will make it the first company to hit the 100-city mark in the online ordering and food delivery services space.

The expanding workforce will largely boost Zomato’s last mile delivery fleet.

Zomato has also been successfully expanding in other parts of Asia, according to CEO Deepinder Goyal.

“We have experienced an overwhelming reaction to our expansion across all of our businesses – Gold, food delivery and supply. The number of Gold memberships sold in Manila and Jakarta within a week is beating early numbers of Delhi and Mumbai,” Goyal said.

“The Food@Work business has also been expanding into new markets. And of course, the food delivery business is ramping up really well with the growth in main markets, as well as the reception in tier II tier III cities,” he added.

The online food aggregator platform now lists over 1.4 million restaurants across 24 countries, and serves over 50 million monthly users.
