In working to foster a culture of continuous learning, more organisations are looking for ways to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of training programmes that will help them build a more skilled, agile, and adaptable workforce.

Learners, on their part, are seeking more personalised learning pathways and real-time coaching that will support their personal and professional growth.

This, said Abhijit Bhaduri, a keynote speaker and author, and former learning and development (L&D) leader at Microsoft, will provide an opportunity for corporate L&D teams to leverage AI to contextualise content as learning experiences shift to a multiple data sets model.

He told HRM Asia, “By 2025, AI will enable organisations to create highly personalised learning experiences at scale. Unlike traditional models that often adopt a one-size-fits-all approach, AI algorithms will analyse employee performance data, preferences, and learning styles to design individualised learning paths. This shift is expected to lead to an increase in employee engagement, as learners receive content that resonates with their unique needs and career aspirations.”

“By 2025, AI will enable organisations to create highly personalised learning experiences at scale. Unlike traditional models that often adopt a one-size-fits-all approach, AI algorithms will analyse employee performance data, preferences, and learning styles to design individualised learning paths.” – Abhijit Bhaduri

For L&D teams to design personalised learning paths, Abhijit recommended integrating data lying in different parts of their organisation, including:

Customer relationship management (CRM) data: Tracks sales performance metrics such as deals closed, revenue generated, and sales cycle length

Learning management system (LMS) data: Records learning activities such as courses completed, assessment scores, and time spent on modules

Communication platform data: Analyse communication patterns such as frequency of interactions with colleagues, participation in team discussions

Employee surveys: Gather feedback on learning preferences, career goals, and areas for development

With AI’s ability to provide real-time feedback, L&D teams can also leverage Generative AI as a coach to revolutionise the learning process, as Abhijit described, “Employees can receive instant insights into their progress, allowing them to address knowledge gaps immediately. This dynamic responsiveness is anticipated to enhance retention rates and fosters a more engaged workforce that feels supported in their development journey.”

To illustrate, he highlighted how AI can be used to upskill an employee’s presentation skills:

Initial assessment: The AI coach would start by assessing the associate’s current presentation skills. This could involve analysing performance data and feedback from peers or supervisors, or using natural language processing to evaluate written presentation materials.

Personalised feedback: Based on the assessment, the AI coach would provide personalized feedback, highlighting areas of strength and weakness. The feedback could cover aspects like clarity of message, delivery style, slide design, and audience engagement.

Targeted recommendations: The AI coach would then recommend specific resources and exercises to help the associate improve their skills. This could include online courses, articles, videos, or interactive simulations. The recommendations would be tailored to the associate’s individual needs and learning preferences.

Practice and refinement: The AI coach would provide opportunities for the associate to practice their presentation skills in a safe and supportive environment. This could involve virtual reality simulations, where the associate can present to a virtual audience, or AI-powered analysis of practice presentations, providing real-time feedback on their performance.

Progress Tracking and Motivation: The AI coach would track the associate’s progress over time, providing encouragement and motivation along the way. The coach could also adjust the training plan as needed, based on the associate’s ongoing development.

With personalised learning paths, employees will experience greater autonomy over their development, Abhijit highlighted. This empowerment in turn, is likely to boost motivation and job satisfaction, as learners feel more invested in their growth.

“The ability to choose relevant courses and resources fosters a sense of ownership that can lead to higher retention rates and lower turnover,” he added.

Looking ahead to 2025, Abhijit predicted that AI-driven platforms will further facilitate collaborative learning environments where employees can engage with peers on shared projects or challenges.

“This emphasis on teamwork will not only improve collaboration skills but also strengthen workplace relationships—key components for thriving in hybrid work settings,” he concluded.
