Maybank Singapore provides employees with financial assistance

These COVID-19 measures include financial assistance for staff affected by Malaysia’s MCO, reimbursement for those serving stay-home notice and vouchers for frontline staff.

Maybank Singapore is introducing a slew of measures to help employees tide over the COVID-19 outbreak. These include a one-time financial assistance of S$1,400 to employees who are temporarily staying in Singapore because of Malaysia’s Movement Control Order (MCO). This, said Maybank, will help these employees defray the cost of accommodation and other incidental expenses. Maybank also reported that some employees have chosen to stay in accommodation provided by Maybank or rent their own accommodation, while others are staying with friends or relatives.

For employees who are serving a 14-day stay-home notice and face difficulties in acquiring basic necessities, assigned Business Continuity Plan (BCP) coordinators will help them order food and daily essentials, the expense of which Maybank will reimburse up to S$200.

In recognition of the commitment of its frontline employees, Maybank is also presenting an S$100 thank-you voucher to every sales and service staff and security personnel working at 18 Maybank branches. Security guards, property management agents and cleaners stationed at Maybank office premises are also entitled to the voucher.

Wong Keng Fye, head of human capital at Maybank Singapore, said, “Echoing our corporate mission to humanise financial services, we look at the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on our employees and hope to address their needs and encourage them to continue to give their best at work.”

To protect staff’s wellbeing, Maybank has also implemented split site operations, work-from-home arrangements and staggered working hours. The proximity of physical interactions amongst staff has been reduced, including safe distancing in the work and rest areas, while group trainings and events are deferred until further notice.

“We will continue to show support for our employees during this challenging period,” Wong concluded.
