Is your office space geared up for tech talent?

Digital and tech skills are in hot demand across all industries, so you need to make sure you have built a workplace for them to be at their best.

When you think of cool workspaces the usual names of Google and Facebook spring to mind, having trendy offices filled with beanbags, foosball tables and well-stocked pantries. Many others have followed their lead.

However, it’s not just about adding cool features into the office to keep tech talent happy, focused and productive. “Creating an environment that attracts talent, inspires innovation, and engages employees is not simply about building a rock-climbing wall or setting up an espresso bar,’’ said a spokesman for WeWork.

To start with, tech employees are a diverse group. They include everything from software engineers through to product designers. Depending on their role, they may need spaces for solving complex problems on a laptop, brainstorming new ideas with colleagues, or working with the marketing team to help sell their products and services.

So for employers busy recruiting tech talent, especially those doing it for the first time, it’s crucial to create a diverse workplace offering many different types of work spaces. Employees could need video-enhanced boardrooms, huddle rooms, mixed-use cafés, and quiet spaces to be at their most productive.

Also, make sure your company culture encourages employees to move around the office to each of those space types, adds WeWork.
