Eight out of 10 firms in South Korea expect that the employment market will recover to pre-pandemic levels this year, and plan to hire fresh graduates, showed a survey by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).
Some 79.8% of respondents believe the number of hires this year will be able to match up to, or reach levels higher than those registered prior to the pandemic.
Over 80% of businesses also plan to hire fresh graduates among their new recruits this year. Hiring plans were highest in the sectors of administration and office work, followed by manufacturing and engineering; sales, research and development; and information and communications technology.

The labour market in the country, after contracting due to the pandemic, is now showing signs of improvements as large firms are moving to hiring more workers, said a KCCI official, according to KBS World.
However, any dramatic improvement is unlikely due to expanding uncertainties such as geopolitical risks and supply chain concerns, the official added.
