A strong contingent of HR professionals turned out for the inaugural “HR Drinks” event in Singapore on March 7.
Held at Pickleville, within the Working Capitol co-working facility in the Central Business District, the event brought together all levels of HR, as well as a strong mix of both local and expatriate participants.
Organisers Laurence Smith and Ommar Butt say there are very few “safe spaces” for experienced HR professionals to network and socialise within the profession itself. As such, the HR Drinks event – which will take place monthly – was “invitation-only”.
“Singapore HR Drinks has the objective of bringing together experienced HR people to network and socialise, swap ideas and stories, share lessons learned, and help each other out with advice, leads, and recommendations,” they said.
“While there are many HR events, Singapore HR Drinks is strictly limited to active HR practioners only, and this makes it a safe space for HR people to have decent conversations without being bothered by consultants or vendors.”
The volunteer team plans to also launch the event in other key centres around East Asia, with plans in place for HR Drinks in Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Tokyo, And Seoul.
“HRDrinks will be launching across Southeast Asia and beyond – please learn more at www.HRDrinks.com and encourage friends and colleagues in other cities to register their interest,” Butt and Smith said.
