Travel and hospitality professionals in demand

Malaysian firms are on the look out for many more hospitality professionals, according to the latest research from Monster.

The latest Monster Employment Index has found that the hospitality and travel industry remained one of Malaysia’s biggest sources of jobs growth.

The monthly research, which gauges online job posting activites, showed that demand for hospitality and travel professionals was up 7% year-on-year in July, and 21% over a three-month period.

Additionally, hospitality and travel professionals also constituted the highest share of part-time or temporary jobs among other occupations in Malaysia, at 35% during the reported month.

Growth in the hospitality and travel industry in Malaysia appears poised to continue, with the country welcoming 8.47 million tourists in the first four months of the year, according to Abhijeet Mukherjee, CEO of Monster in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. “This growth does not only create new types of job role within the industry, but also fuels demand for talent with people and technology skills,” he said.
