Jobs creation is expected to continue in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), albeit at a slowed pace, with Dubai leading the way.

According to data from the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, quoted in a UAE Central Bank report, total employment in the region now stands at 5.025 million, of which 51.3% of the workforce is in Dubai, 27.5% is in Abu Dhabi, and 21.2% is in the Northern Emirates.

According to the bank report, employment rose by 1.6% during the first three quarters on average, compared to a 2.6% increase for the same period in 2017.

However, employment for the region eased in the third quarter, falling back to 0.6%.

Falls in employment were mainly in the services sector which accounts for about 20% of total employment and dropped by 1.3% in the third quarter.

Manufacturing and transport, and storage and communication, also experienced significant declines with 1.1% and 4% respectively.
