Twitter employees asked to work from home

The social media company has asked all its employees to work from home as a precaution amidst the COVID-19 outbreak.

Social media company Twitter has joined the growing list of companies that have asked employees to work from home amidst the COVID-19 outbreak.

Twitter has 5,000 employees worldwide including Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea, which is currently the most hit country after mainland China.

In an announcement made on Monday, Twitter’s Chief HR Officer Jennifer Christie said that the company’s priority is to ensure the health of their employees and to prevent further outbreak of the virus.

“We also have the responsibility of ensuring that the health and safety of our employees and partners is not compromised,” she said.

Twitter is not the first tech company to have shut its offices. The likes of Microsoft, Google and IBM have already implemented work-from-home requirements, although it only applies to affected countries.

Twitter’s latest measure appears to be the most cautious with employees from all its offices being asked to work from home.
