The Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) has called on the government to ensure well-coordinated and communicated COVID-19 enforcement activities on businesses to minimise disruption to their operations and avoid confusion.
Employers continue to deal with enforcement authorities who created more confusion, instead of allowing employers to focus on carrying out their duties, said President Syed Hussain Syed Husman.
Enforcement units that are working in silos to meet their KPIs are creating headaches for employers, he said in a statement, urging that “interdepartmental coordination is important”.
“There must be better coordination in future,” he noted, adding that “employers should not be subjected to such unnecessary stress and disruptions as there is enough personal and economic stress to manage”.

The MEF had already raised the issue with authorities before, as uncoordinated checks by the authorities were disrupting business operations, he said.
“The MEF requests again that all enforcement activities be coordinated inter and intra-agencies so that stress will be reduced for all of us facing the pandemic.”
