Thailand allocates 2.4 billion baht for digital initiatives

One of the projects is an identification programme, aimed at helping SMEs access government e-services and promoted government projects.

Thailand has allocated 2.4 billion baht (US$71.8 million) in fiscal 2022 for six digital projects, 20% higher than the 2 billion baht (US$59.9 million) previously set aside in fiscal 2021.

The six projects include an identification programme, aimed at helping SMEs access government e-services and promoted government projects; a platform to allow people access information about state welfare programmes; and a digital transcript project that will link with universities overseas and allow students to pay tuition fees online.

So far, 22 universities have already joined the digital transcript project, and some of them had already implemented it last year, according to Bangkok Post.

Three private organisations —  the Thai Bankers’ Association, the Federation of Thai Industries and the Thai Chamber of Commerce — have also so far agreed to support members using digital transcripts for job applications.
