Firms in the Philippines encouraged to implement WFH

Government agencies also urged companies to provide sufficient assistance for individuals who are undergoing quarantine and isolation.

The Philippines government is urging employers to practice “work-from-home setup or alternative work arrangements, whenever possible”, in a bid to tackle the increasing COVID-19 cases in the country.

The Department of Health, Department of Labour and Employment and the Department of Trade and Industry reminded employers to implement standard operating protocols such as assigning and designating health safety officers to remind workers of minimum public health standards and monitor and track symptoms; ensuring proper ventilation and avoiding closed spaces; and closing down pantries or areas where staff can convene maskless.

The agencies also urged companies to provide sufficient assistance for individuals who are undergoing quarantine and isolation such as support for medicine and food; promote the use of bicycles or walking to the office to avoid exposure in crowded areas; and to inspect proof of vaccination in premises or business operations where required.

“Employees with symptoms should stay home, isolate, and maximise the use of telemedicine services with healthcare providers”, highlighted the government agencies.
