Human resources minister Datuk Seri M Saravanan said it is compulsory for employers to advertise job openings for at least 30 days on the MYFutureJobs portal, which falls under his Ministry from January 1, 2021.
This move comes as there has been a shortage of manpower in the labour market, especially for 3D (dirty, dangerous, and difficult) jobs, with vacancies in the sector being often filled by foreign workers due to the lack of interest from local workers.
“The government is aware of the constraints faced by employers especially in the 3D employment sector. And because of this, the Cabinet has agreed to allow the recruitment of foreign workers in all permitted sectors on December 10, 2021,” he said in a statement recently.

The minister said sectors allowed to employ foreign workers include agriculture, manufacturing, services, mining and quarrying, construction and domestic service. Nevertheless, he urged and encouraged that the available vacancies be filled by local workers, according to Bernama.
