Staff working in central government offices in India have to report back to the office from February 7, amid an improving COVID-19 situation in the country.
The decision was made in view of the fall in the number of COVID-19 cases, said Union minister Jitendra Singh, according to Mint.
“A review of the pandemic situation was done today and in view of a decline in the number of COVID cases as well as a decline in the positivity rate, it has been decided that full office attendance shall be resumed from tomorrow and employees at all levels, without any exemption,” he said.
There will be no work-from-home option for any employee anymore, Jitendra noted.

He added that heads of departments should ensure that employees wear face masks at all times, and abide by the appropriate social distancing measures.
The government had previously extended its work-from-home policy on January 31 for 50% of its employees below the level of undersecretary till February 15.
