South Korean firms want in-coming government to create more jobs

About six out of 10 South Korean businesses chose job creation as the top policy priority for the incoming government of President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol, according to a poll commissioned by the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), the country’s top business lobby.
“Local firms want the incoming government to focus on creating jobs in a bid to ease economic uncertainty from the COVID-19 pandemic and underpin the economic recovery,” said the FKI, according to Yonhap.
95 out of 157 local companies, or 60.5%, picked job creation as the top policy priority for the new government.

Some 28.3% of respondents would like the new government to nurture future-oriented industries, 27.5% are seeking deregulation, while some 20.5% of firms want the competitive edge of the manufacturing sector to be raised.
In his election campaign, President-elect Yoon promised to ease regulations and create business-friendly environments to help the private sector create more jobs.
