Thailand increases efforts to raise employment

A new US$100 budget will finance job creation projects within the BCG (bio-, circular and green) space and will last for three months.

The Thailand government has approved US$100 million in support measures to hire over 68,000 recent graduates and jobless people nationwide through the creation of 15,000 new local projects.

The budget will finance job creation projects within the BCG (bio-, circular and green) space and will last for three months. According to government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, these measures aim to spur economic activities, as well as drive the grassroots economy and regional development.

Thailand expects some 68,350 people to benefit from the projects, and those who gain employment under this programme will be provided with on-the-job training and give workers experience that the government hopes will help them gain further employment in the sector when the projects end, said Thanakorn.

During their employment, workers will also learn about technology in production and services, cost reduction, marketing operation and delivery of goods. The programme targets those who have graduated from tertiary institutes in the last five years and recently laid-off people.
