Flexibility and relationship-building driving Dell’s hybrid work policy

To encourage and rebuild in-person connection, Dell employees must now work from the office for at least three days a week.

Dell is continuing its hybrid work policy by mandating that all employees must work from a corporate office for at least 39 days per quarter, which translates to three days per week.

Employees who earn below an undisclosed threshold can reportedly choose to remain remote, although this may come at the expense of career advancement, including promotions and pay rises.

Although it is unclear at this stage how Dell’s hybrid work will be refined throughout 2024, the tech company maintains that any decision made will be driven by a flexible approach that adapts to both external and internal conditions.

A Dell spokesperson told HRM Asia, “In today’s global technology revolution, we believe in-person connections paired with a flexible approach are critical to drive innovation and value differentiation.”

“The world is changing, accelerated by the transformative influence of generative AI. This plays to Dell Technologies’ strengths, and we’re well positioned to seize this once-in-a-lifetime technology revolution. Doing so will require us to collaborate, challenge each other in healthy ways, learn from each other and stay informed to make strategic, quick decisions – all in service of innovating for customers.”

“The key to doing all this are relationships – relationships we believe are best built through in-person connection, paired with a flexible approach.”

Dell is not the first tech company to have significantly adjusted their work-from-home (WFH) policies since the pandemic, with the likes of Amazon, Google, and Apple all decreasing employees’ WFH rights to just two days a week.
