Bernardo Serrano López has been named President and CEO of AXA Philippines.

Serrano López was previously CEO of AXA Colpatria in Colombia. He started his AXA career in Chile in 1998, before being appointed as Regional CEO for AXA Latin America in 2001 and later General Manager of AXA Spain in 2003.

“AXA has been part of my professional life for more than two decades, and I am thrilled to join one of the fastest growing markets for insurance, here in the Philippines. I look forward to bringing a fresh perspective to AXA Philippines as we continue to work together to help our customers protect what matters most to them,” he said.

In 2011, Serrano López left AXA to establish his own company. He returned to AXA in the same year as CEO of AXA Brazil, marking the insurance company’s first foray into the market. In 2014, he was appointed Deputy CEO of AXA Colpatria, when the company entered Colombia, and was named CEO in 2016.

Gordon Watson, CEO of AXA Asia and Africa, concluded, “With Bernardo’s extensive experience as CEO in the insurance industry and his entrepreneurial spirit and track record of transforming businesses, he is the perfect lead for our strategic ambitions in the Philippines.”
