Cambodia’s PM urges companies to self-test their employees for COVID-19

To effectively contain the spread of COVID-19, companies and private enterprises should equip themselves to do testing by themselves.

This is especially crucial in factory premises where the virus can be spread rapidly.

The prime minister said that those managing factories should purchase rapid test kits in order to self-test their workers, thereby reducing the burden on the government.

“Our strategy is to quickly control the infected people and reduce the risk of infection, so rapid test kits are the only tool that can be used to detect the COVID-19 virus quickly,” he said.

Cambodia currently has 1.4 million rapid test kits to be distributed to all troops and police officers, he added.

Meanwhile, all travelers entering the country must be tested for the virus using the COVID-19 rapid test kits, minister of health Mam Bun Heng said recently. Persons tested positive for COVID-19 must be sent to hospitals for treatment, and anyone accompanying the patient must be sent to a quarantine centre for 14 days, according to Khmer Times.
