China is focusing on creating jobs for disabled workers in a bid to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.
Central departments are also looking towards alleviating job market discrimination for people with disabilities, creating more opportunities for them and helping them find employment.
“The great challenges and difficulties for people with disabilities in landing jobs are often compounded by reduced access to high-quality education,” said Xie Hongde, an official from the education and employment department of the China Disabled Persons’ Federation, according to China Daily.
Some industries have set “unreasonable” standards in recruitment, and the economic downturn and pandemic have led to higher competition in the labour market, which could work against disabled workers, Xie added.
