Coursera launches Skill Tracks to help organisations close critical skill gaps

Skill Tracks by Coursera offers structured, occupation-focused learning, enabling employees to upskill quickly and organisations to close pressing skill gaps.

Coursera has launched Skill Tracks, a data-driven learning solution designed to guide employees from foundational knowledge to expert-level proficiency through structured, occupation-specific skill paths. Powered by Coursera’s Career Graph, which draws on millions of labour market data points, third-party competency frameworks, and a proprietary skills taxonomy, Skill Tracks maps the relationship between jobs, skills, and learning content, helping organisations close skill gaps more efficiently.

The platform begins with four Skill Tracks in Software and Product, IT, Data, and Generative AI (GenAI), with more tracks planned in the coming months. Each track offers a clearly defined learning journey, highlighting the critical skills and courses employees need at each role and experience level. By integrating expert-led content, hands-on practice, and verified skill assessments, Skill Tracks enable employees to apply new skills immediately, driving measurable business outcomes and accelerating workforce transformation.

The need for such solutions is underscored by the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025, which found that 60% of employers in Singapore identify skill gaps as the biggest barrier to business transformation, while seven in 10 employees will require reskilling within the next five years. Coursera’s Skill Tracks aim to address this challenge by equipping teams with the competencies needed to enhance innovation, productivity, and retention.

“Organisations are deploying new technology faster than their people can keep pace, and they need learning solutions that are adaptive and personalised,” said Greg Hart, CEO of Coursera. “Coursera Skill Tracks deliver a learning experience built around occupations and job tasks, and it’s a major step towards helping learners master the right skills to grow their careers. By blending technical skills with institutional expertise, hands-on practice, and skill verification, Skill Tracks ensure training is relevant and immediately applicable.”

The platform also allows organisations to customise content to align with their tools, workflows, and business priorities. Learners make progress through real-world assessments, earning credentials that verify not only knowledge but practical skills. With continuous content updates and insights tracking learning progress, Skill Tracks stay aligned with evolving market demands, connecting skill acquisition directly to business performance.

Additional Skill Tracks and enhanced features, including skill diagnostics and verified skill paths, will be rolled out over the coming months, further supporting organisations in building a future-ready workforce.
