Thailand to hire 180,000 Indians for tech sector

Thailand seeks to hire 180, 000 IT workers from India, while Indian tech companies are urged to expand to West.

In a bid to develop its eastern provinces into a leading economic zone for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations community, Thailand needs world class IT workers. The country is in serious want of 180,000 IT workers which it seeks to hire from India, complying with the skill set Indian technologists bring with them.

Chutintorn Gongsakdi, the envoy from Thailand in India, said he was trying to tie up with Indian educational institutions to get these workers for Thailand’s new Eastern Economic Corridor project.

In the meantime, Piyush Goyal, India’s Commerce and Industry Minister held a meeting with leading IT firms in India, including: TCS, Infosys, and Wipro urging them to expand to new markets including the Nordic countries, Eastern and Central Europe, Canada, Australia, and markets in Africa.
