Singapore recognises more than 30 skills-focused employers

Singapore’s President Halimah Yacob presented the third annual SkillsFuture Employers Awards in July, recognising 32 organisations from across the economy. The event was held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre.

The SkillsFuture Employer Awards are open to all Singapore-registered entities, including SMEs, corporations, and voluntary welfare organisations. Separate awards were provided for SMEs and non-SMEs.

The criteria for the awards include how each company demonstrates its support of the SkillsFuture movement, and development of workplace learning initiatives. The award also recognises the strong commitment to a company culture that supports lifelong learning and skills mastery.

The awards are timely in an age when disruptive technology is changing the nature of jobs. Mitsui Chemicals Singapore, winner of an award in the non-SME category, said that it had set its HR priority on global talent management and skills development strategies to support the company’s long term business plan.
