Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi created 50,000 jobs in India

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi said they have created 50,000 jobs in India and sold a million devices in a single day.

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has provided employment for more than 50,000 people in India, they said in a press release.

“Xiaomi’s manufacturing partners contribute over 30,000 employees of which more than 95% are women, followed by Authorised Service Center engineers, Repair factory engineers and customer care executives,” the company said.

It also said that it sold a million devices in a single day through its stores on January 10.

Xiaomi started its manufacturing operations in India in 2015 in partnership with Chinese contract manufacturer Foxconn. Currently, the brand has six manufacturing facilities in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
