Job fears for China graduates as job fairs cancelled

The coronavirus outbreak has caused many large-scale job fairs in China to be suspended as Chinese graduates are set for a gloom job market this year.

China graduates can expect a tough year in the job market after a slew of large job fairs were cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

All job fairs have been suspended in Beijing to better control the epidemic while Henan province announced large-scale job fairs planned for spring will be postponed, according to reports.

There are a total of 8.34 million college graduates this year, up from 2.12 million in 2003 during the SARS outbreak. And with the coronavirus outbreak impacting the Chinese economy and businesses, the job market in China is set for a standstill this year.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Transport, has urged universities and companies to organize recruitment tests and interviews online instead in order to meet the job demands of the graduates.
