Malaysia forms government body for job creation and placement

The Government Industry TVET Coordination Body, or GITC, is a collaboration hub to place graduates into relevant jobs.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob chaired a meeting recently with stakeholders where he said, “As many as 12 hubs have been identified for the automotive, semiconductor, marine, air conditioning, aerospace, robotics, telecommunications as well as food technology have been identified nationwide.

“We agreed during the meeting to engage the stakeholder and identify the ability to provide the necessary workforce needed for these industries.

“It is time for youths to use TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) as their main avenue for job seeking and job placements as TVET has a proven record of producing hardworking individuals.”

The prime minister said 1,295 students have benefitted from the GITC spanning 11 ministries and 22 TVET institutions.
