Jobs creation and skills development prioritised in the Philippines
- Charles Chau
In a statement, the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) said this will be one of the highlights of the 43rd National Conference of Employers (NCE43) this month.
Stressing on how skills development will support the objective of creating quality jobs, the 1MJ Team, composed of business organisations, will tackle policy advocacies that will create an enabling business environment for growth and expansion as well as initiatives to prepare the Filipino workforce for the 21st century workplace.
Since launching the 1MJ in 2021, ECOP, together with select industry associations and various government agencies led by the Department of Labor and Employment under the National Employment Recovery Strategy Task Force, facilitated the creation of a million jobs at the end of March 2022.
The initiative, which was renewed in May this year, was mounted in response to the call for massive job creation and recovery for the Filipino workforce hard hit by the pandemic.
The industry associations include Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines, Philippine Constructors Association Inc, Philippine Hotel Owners Association Inc and Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines Inc.
