CIPD looks to shape the future of Malaysia’s HR landscape

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), a professional body for HR and people development, has set up its first Advisory Committee to bring together HR leaders and practitioners across industries in Malaysia

The committee’s objective is to foster the development of HR capabilities, tackle industry challenges, forge strong relationships with key stakeholders, and enhance the CIPD’s standing in Malaysia. The committee will be imperative to guiding the CIPD’s outreach, research, and engagement strategy, which will be distributed to the wider community of HR professionals in Malaysia.

Datuk (Dr) Nora Abd Manaf, Chartered FCIPD, Group Chief Human Capital Officer of Maybank, who will serve as Chair of the committee, said, “By fostering collaboration and sharing best practices, we aim to elevate HR standards and in turn, the people profession, which ultimately supports businesses in achieving sustained growth.”

Peter Cheese, Chief Executive of the CIPD, added, “Through the committee, we cement our dedication to cultivating a dynamic, strategic, and impactful HR landscape, resonating with professionals and organisations.” 

The CIPD’s commitment to advancing HR practices in the Asian context is exemplified through dynamic partnerships, which includes a successful collaboration with global Malaysian energy company PETRONAS. This has resulted in PETRONAS being awarded CIPD’s prestigious People Development Partner (PDP) distinction, marking them as the first PDP organisation in Asia.

Cheese described this as a “significant accolade” for PETRONAS, as the award recognises an organisation’s commitment to continuously invest in and build the capability and credibility of its people function.
