With the demand for industrial training placements surging, Malaysia is taking decisive steps to address the challenges of unemployment and underemployment among graduates. The country’s agency for national industrial training, Talent Corporation Malaysia (TalentCorp), has renewed its commitment to developing and implementing comprehensive structured internship frameworks.
This commitment was underscored at the recent MySIP Appreciation Award, where Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Mustapha Sakmud commended TalentCorp’s efforts in driving the MySIP programme, which has expanded to include Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students.
“Internship training is a key strategy for our students to be skilled and industry ready. The importance of participating in a structured internship programme cannot be overstated, because it serves as a powerful motivator to bring the best out of our young talents,” he said.
To further enhance the internship experience, the Human Resources Ministry, through TalentCorp, is currently studying the details of the proposed National Industrial Training Policy. This policy will establish guidelines for employers to ensure a healthy and safe work environment, fair allowances, and structured opportunities for industrial training.

Since its inception in 2012, the TalentCorp National Structured Internship Programme (MySIP) has benefitted over 112,000 students, with approximately 600 organisations participating each year, reported New Straits Times. To further streamline the internship process, TalentCorp launched mynext by TalentCorp, a one-stop platform that facilitates MySIP and connects employers with potential interns.
Thomas Mathew, Group CEO of TalentCorp, reiterated the agency’s dedication to empowering and benefitting the Malaysian talent pool. “The Malaysian talent pool is the most vital and sustainable source of talent to support our Malaysia Madani economic aspiration,” he said.
