Cambodia looks to create over 150,000 jobs through new investments

The country has approved 195 new investment projects and 43 production expansion requests that would provide more jobs.

Despite the pandemic, Cambodia has the potential to create over 150,000 jobs through the approval of 195 new investment projects and 43 production expansion requests, said Ith Sam Heng, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training.

The minister also urged relevant parties to pay more attention to change, improving and adapting the employment structure from one of a labour-intensive industry, to a skills-based labour industry by 2025.

The minister added that enhancing business competitiveness and productivity would help transform a low value-added industry to a high value-added industry, in line with the National Industrial Development Policy 2015-2025, reports Khmer Times.
