The Ministry of Manpower of Indonesia is set to launch the National Productivity Board, a strategic initiative aimed at accelerating job creation and enhancing national economic growth.
Manpower Minister Yassierli announced the development during an event in Padang, West Sumatra, over the weekend, stating “We are currently preparing the national productivity movement and one of the efforts is forming the National Productivity Board.”
The foundation for this initiative has been laid with the completion of Presidential Regulation Number 1 of 2023 on the National Productivity Board, which is ready to be officially launched.
The board will serve as a key advisory body, providing recommendations to President Prabowo Subianto on policies to boost national productivity and competitiveness. It will also oversee the implementation of programmes designed to strengthen Indonesia’s economic resilience and position in the global market.

The National Productivity Board will concentrate its efforts on several key areas. A new “productivity, innovation, and safety institute” will serve as the National Productivity Board’s think tank, providing data, research, and analysis to inform public policy.
Furthermore, the National Productivity Board will spearhead the national productivity movement and launch a “champion productivity programme.” This initiative will include education, training, and certification programmes designed to cultivate a larger pool of productivity experts across the nation. The National Productivity Board will also foster collaboration with a range of stakeholders, including policymakers at both the central and regional levels, industry associations, and universities.
The minister expressed a desire to see similar productivity boards established at the regional level, with West Sumatra as a potential starting point. “I hope there would be a regional productivity board in West Sumatra in the future,” he said, reported Antara.
