Single expertise no longer enough in employees

According to recruitment experts, companies now look for candidates who have a good grasp of all the business functions.

A job candidate who is an expert in one field is no longer enough.

As reported by The Nation, Punyanuch Sirisawadwattana, the director of commerce, HR, banking, and IT division at Robert Walters Thailand, said that companies now look for candidates who have a good grasp of all the business functions, and a strong understanding of what is core to the success of the business.

A decade ago, companies were looking for candidates who were an exact match to the job description, but advances in technology mean workers will now need to be able to skill up quickly and adapt to change.

He added that companies are also looking for candidates with strong English communication abilities and leadership skills, as well as strategic, logical and analytical thinking, and who can make use of technology in their job functions.
