Wong Yang-Sheng leads HR for Standard Chartered Singapore

Wong Yang-Sheng has been appointed Head of HR for Singapore at Standard Chartered Bank, effective 1 July 2023.

In his new role, Wong will report to Peter Hatt, Head of HR for Asia, and Patrick Lee, Cluster CEO for Singapore and ASEAN Markets. He will also join the bank’s Singapore country management team. Alongside his responsibilities in Singapore, Wong will have additional oversight of HR functions in Australia and Brunei.

Wong started his career at Deloitte Consulting, advising Fortune 500 organisations on human capital issues. He later joined DBS Bank before joining Standard Chartered in 2017, where he served as the Global Head of Organisational Design.

In his new capacity as the Head of HR, Wong will play a crucial role in executing the talent and people development strategy at Standard Chartered Bank. With approximately 9,000 employees in Singapore, his primary focus will be on attracting and cultivating a dynamic workforce capable of spearheading digitalisation, driving innovation, and future-proofing the banking industry. Additionally, he will continue to enhance the employee experience, ensuring that it aligns with the evolving needs of the workforce of the future.
