The 2019 hiring outlook for Southeast Asia is expected to remain positive, according to Robert Walters’ latest annual salary survey.

The survey showed that digitalisation and robust industrial growth will fuel the region’s employment rate.

Roles that are in high demand are information technology specialists, and digital experts with skillsets in cyber security, big data and artificial intelligence.

Those with industry experience across various roles and sectors such as engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, sales and marketing, finance and human resources, also remain in high demand, according to the survey.

Global corporations and foreign investments will continue to encourage demand for skilled and experienced workers, resulting in strong growth in Southeast Asian nations, including Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

However, Singapore and Malaysia will expect stable but modest hiring, as firms look for greater productivity through hiring highly skilled talents, the survey added.
