Malaysia firms in “red zones” urged to work from home

Employers in Malaysia who are in the “red zone” should allow their staff to work from home, urged Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
In an effort to curb further outbreak of COVID-19, the Malaysian government has classified areas with cases as “red zones”.
“I hope that employers can consider this, particularly if their staff lives in areas that have been classified as red zones. This is one way we can stop the Covid-19 infection, ” he said on October 15.
He also reported that the task force to check on compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) detained 390 individuals on October 14, out of which 380 were fined while four were remanded.
The task force has carried out 43,240 checks nationwide, including on places of worship, government offices, banks, restaurants and hawkers.
“The task force will continue to check on compliance and will take action against premises owners as well as the public who do not comply with the SOP, ” he warned.
