Applications for Malaysia’s wage subsidies total RM$12.95 billion

As of October 1, applications for Malaysia’s wage subsidies have hit RM$12.95 billion (US$3.11 billion), benefiting some 322,177 employers and 2.64 million workers, according to Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz.
The government has also extended the wage subsidy assistance under the Kita Prihatin package for an additional three months for existing employers who received support from the Wage Subsidy Programme (PSU), said the minister.
“As at October 1, 2021, a total of RM$1.395 billion has been channelled to 80,839 employers to continue operating and maintaining employment for 712,408 employees,” he said, according to Bernama.
The government has also channelled a total of RM$84.2 million (US$20.24 million) to 13,884 businesses in the form of grants and loans for subscriptions to digitalisation services as at October 1, in order to support technical and digital adoption for SMEs and mid-tier businesses, he added.

This is besides another RM$105.94 million (US$25.46 million) to 38,870 SMEs in the form of matching grants to help them adopt digitisation services in business operations, he added.
