Singapore doles out over S$400 million under Jobs Support Scheme
- Claire Lee
Singapore will be handing out over S$400 million to some 24,400 employers from December 3 under the government’s Job Support Scheme (JSS).
The payout in December is expected to support the wages of over 380,000 local workers, and brings the total amount of JSS support to over S$28 billion (US$20.5 billion) since the scheme was introduced in February 2020, said the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) in a joint statement.
Employers who have made mandatory Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions for their local employees for the months of August to October 2021 by the stipulated deadlines will be eligible to receive the payout in December.
The payout for wages paid out from November 1 this year will be disbursed in March 2022.

So far, about S$12 million (US$8.8 million) in the JSS payouts for December 2021 will be withheld from 443 employers, or 1.8% of all eligible employers, pending their review and submission of supporting documents to IRAS to substantiate their eligibility.
