Hybrid meetings leave employees in Singapore feeling disconnected

Most employees in Singapore feel that they have fewer opportunities to connect with attendees in the office when they attend meetings remotely, a survey by Logitech revealed.

Compared to in-person participants, 38% of respondents also felt less included in virtual meetings.

The survey, which gathered responses from 1,067 workers, found that 59% of respondents agreed that hybrid meetings would be more effective if all participants could contribute and speak equally. Some 56% of office attendees were also more engaged in hybrid meetings, compared to their counterparts who dialled in remotely.

However, hybrid work environments do provide opportunities for multitasking. Some 68% of remote participants said they used the time to reply to emails during virtual meetings, while 51% used social media while others were speaking. Another 46% reported surfing the web while their co-workers were talking.

Some 10% of workers also admitted to faking a technical issue to leave meetings early.

The main issue workers in Singapore face with hybrid meetings is connectivity issues (56%). This is followed by 53% of respondents who cited poor audio quality, and 43% who said they needed to repeat their sentences when other participants could not hear clearly.
