As organisations navigate the complexities of the evolving workplace landscape, Canon Singapore is leading the charge by emphasising a vibrant corporate culture alongside advanced technology. Recently, Canon announced its strategic plans to enhance awareness of its Smart Workplace Solutions across Asia, positioning itself at the forefront of the rapidly growing Smart Office market, which is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.5% between 2024 and 2029.

Norman Ayob, Head of Imaging and Analytics Solutions at Canon Singapore, highlighted the significance of a people-centric approach in driving organisational success. He told HRM Asia, “At Canon Singapore, we believe fostering a people-centric work culture is essential to recognising and retaining top talent. A positive workplace environment elevates employee satisfaction, directly enhancing customer loyalty and retention, ultimately fuelling long-term success for the organisation.”

Canon’s initiatives, such as the Red Hot Passion campaign encouraging employees to wear red on Mondays, aim to infuse passion into daily tasks. Furthermore, the Big Smile with Canon initiative promotes positivity in the workplace. Ayob noted, “These initiatives reflect who we are and how we support each other.”

“Our recent celebration of World Smile Day on October 4 highlighted the importance of nurturing employee wellbeing to create a positive, energised workplace. Here in Singapore, we marked the day with an internal event featuring activity booths and a lively photo booth, allowing us to relax, have fun, and create happy memories as a team.”

To promote health and wellness, Canon has implemented a variety of people-oriented initiatives, including a monthly Fruit Day, wellness lunch talks, and recreational activities organised by the Staff Recreation Committee. These efforts range from nature walks to yoga sessions and friendly sports competitions.

Complementing these cultural initiatives is Canon’s Smart Workspace Solutions, which address key business needs such as security, space management, and employee engagement. The integration of technology facilitates a more comfortable working environment, allowing employees to focus on meaningful tasks. Ayob shared, “With Smart Workspace Solutions, the day begins with a smile, as employees use facial recognition to access systems.”

One innovative feature of Canon’s offerings is the facial and smile recognition technology, designed to enhance user interactions and gamify the workplace experience. Ayob emphasised the importance of this feature, stating, “These moments may seem small, but they play a meaningful role in creating a culture of joy and appreciation.”

Additionally, Canon is committed to helping other organisations leverage these solutions to create positive work environments, as he concluded, “Our goal is to equip them with the right technologies to digitise traditional processes, whether it’s managing information, automating workforces, or collaborating with employees. We want to help them flourish in an ever-evolving blend of remote, in-office, and hybrid work environments.”
