The vast majority of the workforce in Taiwan is pondering the prospect of a job switch, according to a survey by Taiwan’s online job bank Yes123.

The survey – which involved some 1,200 employees from 900 organisations – found that more than 90% of Taiwanese workers are thinking about switching industries after the Chinese Lunar New Year (February 5), with the hope of improved financial prospects and stability.

Furthermore, the proportion of potential job-hoppers is at its highest in 10 years.

The most popular reasons for desiring change were low pay, poor working conditions, poor employee prospects, and poor company prospects.

Almost two-thirds of respondents (65%) said that they were already on the hunt for a new role.

Meanwhile, 85% said they were also exploring options for employment outside Taiwan that offer greater compensation.
