Malaysia encourages businesses to WFH where possible

Employers have been told to avoid face-to-face meetings for now, and are encouraged to help their workers undergo regular COVID-19 tests.

The Malaysian government is encouraging businesses to work from home in a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Work from home should be done whenever possible, with minimal disruption to a company’s daily operations, said Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, reports The New Straits Times

“We encourage employers to continue WFH or on a rotation basis to ensure a safe environment for the staff. We should also avoid face-to-face meetings for the time being,” he said.

“This is a measure as we need to balance between public health and economic recovery,” he said in a press conference. “I discussed the matter with the finance minister today on the matter and we will issue advisories to the employers,” the minister added.

Employers are also encouraged to help their workers get face masks and undergo regular COVID-19 tests, said Khairy. He added that companies should take up incentives from the Finance Ministry to modify the ventilation system at workplaces.
