CHRO Indonesia 2023: Where HR meets innovation and sustainability

HR leaders in Indonesia will gather on 18 October 2023 at the Ritz Carlton Jakarta, Mega Kuningan, for the eighth edition of CHRO Indonesia. Under the theme HR 2024 and Beyond: How CHROs Can Shape Organisational and Workforce Transformation, the event will equip HR leaders with the insights and strategies they need to drive organisational success in the ever-changing world of work.

Gracing CHRO Indonesia as the event’s Guest of Honour is Prof. Anwar Sanusi, Ph.D, Secretary General of the Ministry of Manpower, Indonesia. In his keynote address at 3pm (GMT), Prof Anwar Sanusi, who is also Deputy Minister of Indonesia’s Ministry of Manpower, will provide an overview of the key trends in Indonesia’s labour and talent market and highlight how forward-thinking organisations in Indonesia are leveraging technology to ensure long-term sustainability.

Joining the minister on the list of distinguished speakers for CHRO Indonesia is Yulius Bolo, Operations Director of Pertamina Foundation and Vice-Chairperson of the ASEAN Human Development Organisation (AHDO) Indonesia, who will highlight the increasing reliance on overseas employees in Indonesia. His presentation, Navigating the Era of Overseas Employees and Empowering Indonesia’s Local Workforce, will shed light on the importance of preparing local employees for the future through training and skills development, ensuring they remain relevant in a globalised workforce. He will also discuss creating a culture of inclusivity, ethical recruiting practices, and performance-based rewards to empower the local workforce and dispel feelings of insecurity.

After which, Paulus Swasono Satyo Nugroho, CHRO of Sinar Mas Mining, will take the stage to delve into the dynamic business environment of the present day. Titled The Holacracy-Metaverse Organisation: Taking the Next Step in Organisational Excellence and Employee Development, this presentation will explore how this transformation is driving growth, revenue, process optimisation, and leadership development, while sharing Sinar Mas Mining’s journey with upskilling, reskilling, and fostering resilience.

As the discussion over AI continues, a panel discussion moderated by Pambudi Sunarsihanto, Human Capital Director, PT Kapal Api Global, will delve into the impact of AI in HR operations. Titled The Impact of AI in the Workplace: Developing Indonesia’s Talent for the Future, the panel discussion will feature Badai Widyastuti Prasthari, HR Director, Indonesia, Reckitt; Dyah Ambarwati, Country Head of Human Resources, Sun Life Financial Indonesia; and Triya Heliany, Regional People and Culture Director, Indonesia and PNG, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners; and will explore the transformative potential of AI in HR, while also addressing concerns related to privacy, security, ethics, and bias.

To provide insights into an organisation’s HR maturity level as they look to build sustainability and successful EX, Audi Lumbantoruan, Human Resources Advisor, ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity, will highlight the pivotal role HR teams play in driving organisational growth and revenue. He will provide solutions to identify and measure an organisation’s HR maturity level, which can serve as a foundation for HR to align with organisational strategy, enhance employee experiences, and facilitate forward-thinking HR planning.

Other speakers joining CHRO Indonesia are Dr Bob Aubrey, Founder and Chair of the Advisory Board, AHDO; Ihsanuddin Usman, Human Resource and General Affairs Director, Pelindo; and Suryo Sasono, Senior Vice-President of Talent, Bukalapak.

Suryo will shed light on the transformation journey of the tech organisation and the strategies employed to harness the full potential of its workforce in his presentation, Building Organisational Resilience at Scale (And Why It Pays Off). Ihsanuddin’s presentation, titled Creating a Productive Culture of Employee Wellbeing to Drive Business Sustainability, will emphasise the profound impact of employee experience on business outcomes. As for Dr Aubrey, he will discuss the challenges facing CHROs in Indonesia and provide a roadmap for leaders to guide their organisations in adapting to the new reality of people and work in the fast-growing ASEAN economy in his session, Challenges of the New HR Paradigm for HR Leaders in Indonesia.

Dr Aubrey will also be moderating a panel discussion titled Leading Organisations Beyond Indonesia: 2024 Trends that Indonesian HR Leaders Need to Know, which will explore the key success factors and HR practices that have enabled organisations to thrive both within and outside Indonesia. Panellists, including Ary Gemini Aryanto, Senior Vice-President, Global People and Culture, Kopi Kenangan; Dewi Kurnia Salwa, Vice-President Human Resources, Pertamina Hulu; and Ewaldo Amaral, Senior Manager Learning, Culture, and Organisational Development, tiket.com; will share insights on sustaining growth in a diverse and dynamic global landscape.
