After an 18-month search, Flipkart names new HR head

Flipkart has made a key appointment of a chief HR officer, which has remained vacant for about 18 months.

Following an 18-month search, India’s biggest online electronics store Flipkart has finally found a new chief HR officer (CHRO).

Industry sources told India Times that the e-commerce giant has hired Smriti Singh as its new CHRO.

Singh previously worked as the former executive vice president and HR head for Sony Pictures Networks India.

Flipkart has not officially made an announcement, but reports said that Singh will be joining the company in December.

Singh will take over the post that had been vacated 18 months ago by Nitin Seth, who was COO and managing HR at Flipkart.

In the interim, the position has been temporarily held by Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy.

The appointment of Singh as CHRO is considered one of the most significant appointments since Walmart acquired Flipkart for USD$16 billion (SGD$22 billion).
