Asia’s leading communications technology group, Singtel is investing S$45 million to enhance the digital skills of its 12,600 employees.
Through its ACT initiative, the organisation is pushing its employees to further their education and skills over the coming three years.
Chua Sock Koong, Singtel Group’s CEO, introduced the programme at a special event on September 12.
“The initiative also aims to continue to transform employee roles,” she said. “(We are) re-skilling our people with digital competencies to take on new or enhanced roles that support our ongoing digital transformation.
“In the past year, over 600 employees took on new roles after undergoing skills conversion, and we are working hard to build on that success.”
ACT aims to:
- Accelerate employee learning and skills development,
- Empower employees to “Co-Create” their skills pathways, and
- Transform employee roles to ensure they remain relevant in the digital economy.
Singtel has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Union of Telecoms Employees of Singapore, which will see the ACT initiative roll out over three years.
