Majority of young workers in India look to upskill

Courses in finance, data science, analytics, technology and management are the top five programmes with the highest level of enrolment.

Some 70% of young Indian professional workers want to upskill and take up new-age digital skills, found a survey by education firm Imarticus Learning.

Finance, data science, analytics, technology and management are identified as the top five programmes with the highest level of enrolment. Across various industries, courses like data science, full stack development, supply chain management, cybersecurity and digital marketing remained the most sought-after skills for young professionals and fresh graduates.

After upskilling, 75% of learners were able to land a higher-paying job, receiving a 67% salary hike after gaining new skills.

“Freshers and young professionals should constantly upskill themselves to remain job relevant and ready to take on newer responsibilities for efficient career growth,” said Nikhil Barshikar, Founder and Managing Director of Imarticus Learning, according to India Today. “The job market in India is outgrowing traditional job roles and thus upskilling should be embedded in young professionals.”
