New initiative empowers Singapore firms to develop future leaders

The Singapore Global Executive Programme (SGEP) has been launched by Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) to support homegrown organisations with a global presence in ramping up their talent development programmes.
First announced at Budget 2022, the new programme reaffirms the government’s commitment to enhance the core capabilities of high-potential Singapore organisations and support their growth under the Enterprise 2030 strategy, which is to build and sustain a vibrant ecosystem of Singapore enterprises that are future-ready and possess capabilities to compete globally.
Png Cheong Boon, CEO of EnterpriseSG, commented, “Organisations that want to scale up their global enterprises need to focus on grooming talent and develop deep leadership bench. SGEP aims to strengthen Singapore enterprises’ talent development capabilities, help them attract young talent, and groom them into global-ready leaders.”

To help SGEP organisations develop their talent more effectively, they will work with partners to expand their knowledge in employer branding, talent assessment and analytics, as well as talent acquisition and development, to develop a customised human capital roadmap for their business growth plans. EnterpriseSG will also support these organisations in strengthening their in-house HR team with a dedicated talent manager to oversee the human capital roadmap.
Local talent can move up the career ladder at SGEP organisations through structured career progression pathways that will prepare them for future global leadership roles. Through rotations across core business functions, mentorships, and overseas work attachments, participants can build industry expertise. This, in turn, will enable SGEP organisations to build a skilled leadership pipeline for their global expansion.
